Tuuletar / Finland

Tuuletar (“The goddess of the wind” in Finnish mythology) is a vocal band made up of four Finnish artists. Since 2012, these brilliant vocalists have been working, composing and performing together, creating their own unique sound.

Tuuletar promotes Finnish musical culture through its innovative approach. The excellent vocalists use nothing but their voices (without instrumental accompaniment) to create a lively soundscape, where beatbox rhythms meet Finnish folk tradition, as well as foreign influences. Thanks to this refreshing original formula, the artists created a new genre that they called Vocal Folk Hop, which impresses audiences all over the world with its emotional, creative and captivating songs. 

In June 2016 the band released their highly acclaimed first album Tules Maas Vedes Taivaal. It was recorded in the USA in the Liquid 5th Productions studio and released by the Finnish Bafe’s Factory label. The album quickly broke into the Top 10 of the World Music Charts Europe and Transglobal World Music Charts. In February 2017, the album won the prestigious EMMA award in Finland (the Finnish Grammy) for the best album of the year in the ethno category. 

In 2017, “Alku”, one of the songs on the album, was used in one of the most popular series of recent years – the Game of Thrones. The same song also appeared in Wentworth, an Australian TV series. Over the past few years Tuuletar performed actively around the world, including two major Asian concert tours in Japan in December 2016 and Taiwan in October 2017. The artists also visited many major European world music festivals. The current year is just as busy for the band in terms of concerts.
