(WORKSHOPS: The Mazurka – singing and playing: 19.07.2013, 6:00-7:30 PM, Magazyn Kultury | Kolanko No. 7)
Maria Siwiec – a singer from Gałki Rusinowskie – knows hundreds of local songs, she is one of the main singers of the ensemble operating in the village. She is happy to share her knowledge.
Piotr Gaca – is an outstanding violinist from Rdzów (Radom area), who preserves old playing techniques and archaic sound coloring. In the 1950s, he founded the Gaca family ensemble with Władysław (harmonium) and Jan (small drum). He also played with the bassist Leon Rek and Józef Papis, a violinist and drummer, and with his son Stanisław Gaca – a harmonist. Winner of many traditional music competitions (including the 1st Prize of the Festival of Bands and Singers in Kazimierz).
The workshops will focus on mazurka themes, which will be presented in both vocal and violin versions. Short vocal forms will be sung with violin and drum accompaniment, which is their natural performance context. This will make it easier to understand their specific rhythm and will give a basis for playing them on instruments and singing them in the form of "wyrywasy". The workshops will also be an opportunity to get acquainted with the characteristic verbal layer of "wyrywasy" and the possibility of creating your own, spontaneously invented texts and singing them to the melodies learned.
