Muzsikás (Hungary)

 

Márta Sebestyén and the Muzsikás band - this is one of the most interesting folk formations in Europe, known for their numerous recordings and concerts on many continents as experimental artists, a community that has been going beyond the love of music and its subtle shaping for years. They are not satisfied with the things that has been researched and learned. For them, making music is a way of getting to know the world, assimilating and deepening traditional content, an attempt to bring closer and understand the ancient ways of life. In their works one can see intermingling Transylvanian, Hungarian, but also Irish and Anglo-Saxon themes.

The band's rich discography is always music of the highest quality, where various means of expression serve to reconstruct traditional threads, their creative transformations, and above all, their deep musical interpretation.

Márta Sebestyén is known not only as the band's vocalist – she recorded, among others joint album with the band Deep Forest, and sang melodies constituting the background music of the movie „The English Patient”.
