Jacek Hałas - „Zegar bije” / „The clock strikes” (Poland)

The concert is promoting unique album of the artist: „Zegar bije” [„The clock strikes”] - awarded at the prestigious competition of the 'New Tradition' Festival 2008 by the title of Folk Phonogram of the Year (2nd Prize). „Zegar bije” is a collection of „ancient songs about vanities of this world, about death and wandering of souls, sung as a warning, reflection and encouragement”. Jacek Hałas is a graduate of Academy of Arts in Poznan, musician, singer, co-creator of many folk bands (Bractwo Ubogich, Muzykanci, Ket Jo Barat, Lautari, Kwartet Wiejski, Nomadzi Kultury), artistic projects (Poznan House of Dance, Tikkun, the Book) and theater projects (with Theater „Strefa Ciszy”, „Cinema”, „Schola Węgajty”). His areas of interest are: traditions of wandering singers, pageant dances, workshop organizing and other educational activities. Since 2005 together with his wife Alicja as Nomadzi Kultury [Nomads of the Culture] they travel all over Europe with their own yurt, where they present effects of their research and projects realized with other artists.
