INDIALUCIA / Poland/India
19.08.2020 20:00 concert Strefa club
The project brings together two fascinating musical styles: music of India and flamenco. It started in India in 1999 with teachers and students of the Academy of Music in Nagpur, and many other consummate musicians from Asia and Europe. The man behind the idea, producer, and the artistic head of the formation is the guitarist Michał Czachowski.
That musical meeting resulted among others in a CD released in 2005 that won acclaim in Poland and over the world. Precisely that album won them the Best Record of 2005 in the competition Folk Recording of the Year organised by the Polish Radio, and a year later earned them a nomination to Fryderyk 2006 Awards in the Album of the Year – Folk/Ethno category. Amalgamation of the music of Spanish Gypsies and India may seem exotic. However, if we recall that the people arrived in the west of Europe from nowhere else but India, we can treat the project as a return to the roots: the phenomenon may be compared to the first revolutionary meetings of the musicians of Europe and Asia in the 1960s.
The band played more than 300 concerts on four continents, including countries such as India, Mexico, the US, Russia, Singapore, Oman, Colombia, Spain, Turkey, Austria, Germany, the UK, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Czechia, Finland, Hungary, and Romania. The special guests who have cooperated with Indialucia include Leszek Możdżer, the Aukso Orchestra, Blas Córdoba, Macarena de la Torre, Jorge Pardo, Pepe Habichuela, Paquito González, Carlos Troya, Pierluca Pineroli, Domingo Patricio, David Huertas, L.
