Hania Rybka and Friends (Poland)

 

They are a group composed of outstanding instrumentalists from Podhale (Sebastian Karpiel-Bułecka, Bartłomiej Kudasik, who have recorded with Kayah and Bregovic, the Pospieszalski and Steczkowski families, Wojciech Waglewski) as well as from Kraków (Józef Michalik, Sławomir Berny, Leszek Szczerba; musicians collaborating with Marek Grechuta, Grzegorz Turnau and the artists of "Piwnica pod Baranami"). The repertoire of the band of Hania Rybka, who was raised in the Podhale tradition of family music making, in addition to the melodies and songs of Podkarpacie and the Carpathians, also includes the music of Polish lowlands. In previous years, Hania cooperated, among others with Skaldowie, Brathanki, Golec uOrkiestra and Maryla Rodowicz. In 2002, the band won the prestigious Polish Radio New Tradition competition.
