Kukurba & Słowiński PROJECT / Poland

A meeting of the viola virtuoso and vocalist, known from the Kroke formation - Tomasz Kukurba and Stanisław Słowiński - one of the most wanted jazz violinists of the young generation. During the premiere concert, we will hear, above all, the original compositions of the band's leaders, but there will also be new arrangements of already known songs; their original music proposal draws on the traditions of jazz, rock and world music.

Tomasz Kukurba

"As any musician, artist or man of art would say, I will create as long as I look for something that I can't even name" - said Tomasz Kukurba in a book dedicated to the Kroke group, published in the quarter-century of this legendary formation . He continued: "I am still looking for this path, not because I would like to find it, but because I have to. Because it just calls me..." These words can also be treated as the motto of his latest activities. Kukurba, an artist known in Poland and in the world, frontman of the Kroke band, violist, author of characteristic vocalises, decided - without giving up performances in his mother band - to try his own repertoire and join forces with Stanisław Słowiński to build a program combining two extremely colorful and various musical worlds.

On the artistic trail Kukurba as a part of the Kroke trio projects he has met such artists as Nigel Kennedy, Mongolian artist Urna Chahar-Tugchi, Peter Gabriel, Natasha Atlas, Amir John Haddad, Anna Maria Jopek, Tomasz Stańko, and on the Polish music scene he collaborated with Grzegorz Turnau, Magda Umer, Ewa Bem, Joanna Słowińska and Renata Przemyk.

The concert took place in 2019.
