The masters’ workshops (Peter Gaca / Jan Kmita / Maria Pęzik / Maria Siwiec) will be focused around the mazurek themes, which will be presented in both vocal and violin form. Short vocal forms will be sung to the accompaniment of violin and drum, which is their natural context. This will make it easier to understand their specific rhythm and give basis for playing them on musical instruments and singing in the form of so-called „wyrywasy”. The workshop will also provide an opportunity to get acquainted with the characteristic verbal layer of „wyrywasy” and the ability to create your own, invented texts sung to the learned tune.

Jan Kmita – one of the greatest traditional violinists in Poland. He lives in Przystałowice Małe ('kajocki' micro-region). In his repertoire he has hundreds of mazurka melodies which he plays in his own unique way.

Maria Pęzik – an outstanding singer and drummer - along with Maria Siwiec and the band Gałcunecki from Gałki Rusinowskie, the winner of ”Baszta” in the category of singing groups at the National Festival of Folk Bands and Singers in Kazimierz.

Maria Siwiec – singer from Gałki Rusinowskie; she knows hundreds of local songs. One of the main singers of the group singing in the village. She is willingly sharing her knowledge.

Piotr Gaca – an outstanding violinist from Rdzów (Radom region), keeping the old technique of playing and archaic tone color. In the 50s he founded Gaca family band with Władysław (harmony) and Jan (the rotor). He also played with Leon Rak (bassist) and Józef Papis (violinist and drummer) and with son Stanisław GACA (accordionist). Winner of many competitions of traditional music (including the Prize at the Festival of Bands and Singers in Kazimierz).

The Lipiec Family Band: Tadeusz Lipiec (three row harmony) and Rafal Lipiec (baraban / folk drum). They live in Wygnanów, near Przysucha (birthplace of Oskar Kolberg). They are masters of their profession; play for dancing: mazurkas, oberkas, polkas, cooperate with 'kajocki' violinists such as Piotr Gaca and Jan Kmita.
